Description
Our glasses are colorful everyday charmers and joy-bringers with their delicious colors and shapes. Colors speak to us in a big way, and playfulness is visible in our products. We believe in the power of colors! We always want to keep an open mind to different things in life, and boldly encourage you to realize your own interior design dreams, even if it’s one colorful glass at a time!
We handcraft our glass products in our glass workshop in the Kustavi craft village. We use domestic recycled glass when available, and partly high-quality German glass. Using recycled glass means we use fewer raw materials and energy compared to traditional production from new raw materials.
The nature of mouth-blown glass objects includes a varied and unique appearance, and small irregularities bring nuance to them. Varying shades and the number of spots, as well as air bubbles, are part of handmade glass, and they make the product unique.
Our company values strongly emphasize domestic craftsmanship, which has guided our operations for a long time. We are located in Kustavi Handicraft Village, and although Paratiisipaja is its own independent company, in practice, we are practically one entity. Paratiisipaja’s founder Pia Metsävainio and her sister Essi Vuontisjärvi are the duo behind Kustavi Pottery and Handicraft Village. Kustavi Handicraft Village has strong traditions in domestic ceramics manufacturing, spanning nearly fifty years. A central value for us is supporting domestic craftsmanship. This is evident not only in our own production (glass, ceramics, candles, natural cosmetics) but also in the fact that for decades we have offered free sales spaces to artisans trying their wings.
